NoLimit Texas Holdem StrategyGoing On a Winning Streak - By: Napoleon Will - Poker-A-Z.Com Poker is similar to most sports in that streaks occur when you least expect them. Cold streaks are a poker player's worst enemy. Hot streaks make you feel invincible as if you could see your opponent's hole cards. Most of your profits will come on these winning streaks and most of your losses will occur on these losing streaks. It sounds easy enough to say it, but what does it really mean? Poker is a game of people and when people are playing bad, they can put themselves on a long losing streak. Identifying the opponents that are on losing streaks can give you a huge advantage. It is your job to take advantage of your opponents when they are not playing their best. Many times excellent players will continue to play when they are clearly on tilt. Attack opponents who are not playing their best and punish them for staying in the game. It is a lot easier to beat an opponent who is not playing up to his full potential. If you notice that your opponent is making bad decisions, hopeless bluffs, and ridiculous calls, it is time to take him to the cleaners. On the flip side, you need to recognize when you are playing below your skill level. It is impossible to stay focused every time you sit down at the poker table. You are a human being and emotions will always have an affect on your play. Attempt to minimize your losses when you are playing bad by getting out of the game. Great players can recognize when they are playing bad and have enough control to simply leave the game. It is important to always have other things to do besides poker.
