Stuck Between a Rock and a Hard Place - By: Jimmy Holton - Poker-A-Z.Com poker time

What to do, what to do? From what I've experienced, most sponsored tourneys have 12 weeks in a season, then the city championship, then on to the regional finals. The top 10 at the end of the season automatically get a seat in the regionals. The top 30 at the end of the season are invited to the city championship where, if you're not ranked in the top 10 for the season, you must place 3rd or better in your city championship in order to advance to the regionals. I don't agree with the fact that you can go ranked 30th to city champion in one night but hey, I don't make the rules.

Anyways, my dilemma is whether or not to play in tomorrow nights? city championship. As of last week, I am ranked 3rd and they still haven't updated my two 1st places and my 2nd place yet. So I'm guaranteed a seat at the regionals no matter what. I could take a night off, which would give someone who?s not ranked in the top 10 one last chance for a seat in the regionals, or I could play for the ?prize? and bragging rights. On one hand, I've got a couple of friends who are just missing a top 10 ranking and have to do something in this tourney and I would hate to hurt their chances, although I could help them if they doubled up on me. On the other hand, I don't want to see someone who hasn?t played too often this season and come in and place a top 3 and ?poof?, just like that, he or she's got a free seat at the regionals. Oh well, in the words of Bart Simpson, ?you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't.? In fact, I'll let the Simpsons make my decision for me. The show comes on right before the tourney starts. If it's an episode I like, I'll stay at home, watch it and skip the tourney. An episode I don't care for, I'll go try and win the ?prize.? Pretty sad when you allow yourself to let a cartoon character make decisions for you, eh? Good luck all.
