Texas Holdem Poker Ego is Your Biggest Roadblock to Greatness - By: Napoleon Will - Poker-A-Z.Com
One year ago, I had just started playing poker and won my first big tournament. I had all the confidence in the world and it quickly filled my head with ego. There is a fine line between confidence and ego. Confidence allows you to believe in your ability to achieve your goals and achieve success. Ego makes you believe that you are better than everyone. Having confidence is very important but ego is killer to your poker game. You have to balance between having confidence but be humble enough to eliminate ego. Ego is an automatic response to temporary success. I have been through the ego stage of my poker career. I have seen other players get stuck in the ego stage of their poker career. In order to become a great poker player, you need to continually force yourself to learn more about the game. Ego impedes your thoughts and gives you the false impression that you are the greatest. In reality, it is impossible to be the greatest at anything. Players are always getting better and the competition is always getting tougher. Realize that you can learn something every day at the poker table. Learning is more fulfilling than winning a big pot sometimes. Dedicate yourself to learn something every single day and I guarantee you will love this game even more. You have just started your poker journey. Forget about winning money right now, it will come as your skill improves. Eliminate ego from your game and you will reach all of your poker goals.
