Game Selection, Seat Selection

The professionals who work the B&M casinos of Nevada and California have become very good at game and seat selection. They look for the obvious clues - tourists, gamblers with lots of money, players who are drinking, etc.

The pros might start at any table, but they will immediately request a transfer to what they consider to be the best game. Once they are in the best game they will begin to jockey for the best seat. The best seat is not a lucky seat or a seat with a clear view of the TV. It will most often be to the left of the 'live one' so that the professional can have the best shot at getting the money.

You can't do as much about seat selection when you are playing online, but you can definately take advantage of table selection. Large post are usually indicitative of loose games and small pots usually mean the game is tight. You can get on a waiting list for the game that suits your style and always change tables if the game conditions aren't that great.

Game selection is what makes me the most money. Also, noticing when the texture of the game has changed over time has probably been the one thing to cost me money in the long run. Good games = more profit.

Usually when I go to the online tables I figure out what limit to play then I find the table with those limits and choose the table with the most money on it. I found that the ones with the bigger stacks play either very tight or very loose but either way I can usually cash in either by waiting for just the right hand against the aggressive one or pretty much knowing what the tight guy has.
